about us
Burnham-on-Crouch is a historic town in the Maldon District of Essex, England, situated on the north bank of the River Crouch. Known as the "Cowes of the East Coast," it is a major centre for yachting and sailing, with a charming waterfront full of historic buildings, pubs, and boatyards.
"This undiscovered Essex enclave could be the most peaceful town in England" - The Telegraph (June 2023)
Our Mission
BAND is not against all new housing. It exists to promote resistance to non-sustainable and inappropriate
building, over-development of Burnham and the shaping of development plans that impact
on the future development of the town.
Our Values
BAND is being set up following a meeting of local residents because we believe enough is enough
in terms of the amount of unsustainable housing development proposed and going on around
Burnham-on-Crouch. We are not against all developments. But we do feel that the recent proposal by Welbeck Land to build 200 houses on farming land at Romans Chase Farm, with access only by Mill Road, represents inappropriate building and over development in an area of countryside between Burnham-on-
Crouch and Stoneyhills.
BAND is a non-party political and non-profit making organisation.
